Glitch!

Hong KongWhile I had planned to release my time appropriate Hong Kong Campaign (70th commemoration) free to the community this Christmas my computer had other thoughts. A broken hard drive put me out of action for the last week! So now I am behind.

However, I see that DoW is now also shipping the CB#2 around this time, overshadowing any contribution I would have anyway (coincidence? It was supposed to be out earlier…to add insult to injury, some people obviously have copies…mine have yet to arrive and I worked on it!). At any rate, it also appears that JDRommel has released another flood of scenarios in time for the holiday season so it seems that my efforts simply aren’t required.

In light of everything, I am disheartened to say the least. The only bright spot has been the support and friendship I have received from Richard Borg himself along with some encouraging comments from my friends in the community.

Maybe one day, I’ll get back to finishing this campaign for public consumption, but being self-employed now, I have more direct concerns to attend to. Sorry if I’ve disappointed anyone.

I wish you all a Happy Gaming Holiday. Best wishes in 2012

I appreciate all you have done for the Memoir 44 community. Having been self-employed in the past, I can understand how life can easily get in the way of our hobbies. I set mine aside for about ten (miserable) years!

Looking forward to whatever you produce, whenever you produce it. Have a good holiday.

Thanks Dale. Gaming is one of my only true passions, I can’t seem to be without it for very long. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Being demoralized feels like not being important enough. Seeing that our work is not appreciated well enough is just the same. I’ve been through this; I still didn’t get the expected appreciation for making Battlefield – Hungary (even though the download tally on BGG reached 139 :D ). But I don’t get disheartened, and there is a very good reason for it. I know, that I’m not the only one who does ‘community work’ (so I can enjoy their work as well – I’m counting on you on this one, Malcolm!) and that sometimes I’ll get some constructive review of my work, which means that my work makes part of the Memoir ‘44 body!

I hope that the teenager point of view makes enough sense.
Looking forward to fighting the Brits and Japanese in Hong Kong (as I really enjoyed fighting them in Yangtze’s Bicycle Campaign – CB2, pure awesomeness!).

Enjoy the last 48 hours of the year! :D

All your work on Memoir ‘44 is very appreciated and will continue to be for a long time. Sorry to hear that you won’t be finishing this campaign for a little while, but I look forward to seeing it when you get around to it again.

Take care my friend and know that you are appreciated!

Thanks Jesse and Szilli. I know my work is appreciated by the community and I appreciate that…it is certainly not that factor which is the deterrent. It’s a combination of things, primarily that I have been disappointed by DoW too many times but it isn’t solely that either. Part of it is I just don’t have the enthusiasm that I once had…maybe it will come back, but I doubt it. I feel that it’s time to move on. Thanks again everyone for your support in the past, it is truly the thing that kept me going this long.

    All the best in 2012!

I know I am late in writing this but as a newcomer to the whole of what Memoir 44 is and the great community around it I appreciate entirely everything you, JDRommel, Szilli,Yangtze,Jesse and the countless others who also dont see much limelight or recognition for the contributions they have putforth by the company that produces the games they obviously love (i don’t see any other reason as to why anyone would do what yall have done for this game if yall didn’t love it right?)

I hope your year has gone well thus far (and don’t feel bad the wife and I preordered our copy of CB2 and have yet to receive it until Saturday the 7th. and lo no Crete Campaign as we were led to believe we would get for preordering (half the reason my wife actually compulsion bought the book early )

But I know you may not like to see a missive here but always keep moving forward it may hurt to do so but always do whats best and right for you and yours no matter the views or ideals of others
